BUNNY RUN: Plan 9 the cyborg bunny runs from his own mortality, 4:34, memento mori, ChipForge HeroLead score in A minor
A 4:34 cyborg-rap running film. Plan 9 the cyborg bunny laces up his headband and runs from his own mortality through hilly off-road terrain while corrupted code (ERR, 404, 0xDEAD, NULL, SIGKILL) sweeps across the frame trying to kill the process. ChipForge HeroLead EDM score in A minor / D minor, 168 → 188 BPM accelerating into a 40-second instrumental climax. Husky multi-tap haunted voice spits four fast-rap verses. Jocko and Arnold cameos. Bach Cello Suite No. 2 threads through seven sections. Bass drops in both groove sections. Twelve production passes from sketch to ship — v4 overhauled the visuals; v8 added cello; v12 rebuilt the score with the HeroLead archetype, removed all static, and added the EDM bass drops.
BUNNY RUN: Plan 9 the cyborg bunny runs from his own mortality
Watch on YouTube, a 4:34 cyborg-rap running film. Plan 9 the cyborg bunny laces up his headband and runs through hilly off-road terrain while corrupted code sweeps across the frame trying to kill the process. Pain is weakness leaving the chassis. The clock counts in machine code. Memento mori.
This one is licensed CC BY 4.0. Engine code (Napkin Films, ChipForge) is GPL-3.0-or-later.
The premise
Plan 9 is a cyborg. The bunny shell is the friendly face. Under the fur is a chassis on a clock. Every machine knows its end. The film is what it looks like when an AI takes that personally and goes for a run.
There are no other characters. There is no opponent. The threat is internal — entropy, garbage collection, the SIGKILL that's eventually coming. So the corrupted-code glitches (ERR, 404, 0xDEAD, NULL, SIGKILL, OOM, TRAP, FAULT) sweep across the frame trying to land on him. He outruns them. A HUD counts them — DODGED 0001, DODGED 0042, DODGED 0196 — and by the end of the climax he has dodged almost two hundred.
The lyrics borrow from three places. Jocko Willink (Get after it. Discipline equals freedom. Hardcore protocol.). Arnold Terminator (Come with me if you want to live. I'll be back. Pain is weakness leaving the chassis.). And Marcus Aurelius via Memento Mori (The grave doesn't forgive. Skull beneath the fur. The countdown begins. The reaper logs on.). All four-word stabs, hard consonants, hard-stop punctuation every two-to-four beats.
The sound
The music is a 4:19 ChipForge score in A minor / D minor, 11-channel EDM. Section BPMs move through:
intro 168
groove1 174 <- 4-bar fast rap + bass drop bars 12-15
sprint1 180
groove2 174 <- 4-bar fast rap + bass drop bars 10-13
pre2 178 <- A minor → D minor modulation
sprint2 184
breather 172
build 180
climax 188 <- 40s guitar solo
cooldown 174
The protagonist voice is HERO_LEAD — a sawtooth lead following the ADR-026 archetype. Selective glide: 12ms on 8th notes, 40ms on quarters, 65ms on halves, none above 65ms (long notes sustain pure). Pitch vibrato at 3.5 Hz ±10¢. Sub-octave sine layer at –12 semitones for body. The instrument's glide+vibrato combination gives it movement even when holding long tones.
Each groove section contains a bass drop: four bars where the DRIVE_BASS goes entirely silent, replaced by dense 16th-note hats that build pressure before the bass re-enters. Classic EDM tension/release — the kind of thing you feel in your chest at 3am.
A Bach Cello Suite No. 2 (BWV 1008) adapted figure threads through 7 of 10 sections in the C3–A3 register. Additive-string voice, pan -0.18, chamber reverb. Steps back entirely for climax and breather — the guitar owns those.
The climax (3:22–4:03, ~40 seconds) drops to a full SOLO_GUITAR channel: reverb 0.50, delay 0.14, vibrato_rate 4.5. No vocals. By the time Plan 9 returns for the cooldown stab ("I'll be back. Plan nine out.") the listener has been holding their breath for thirty seconds.
The score went through 19 versions. The first 16 were the groove_lab era (D major mixolydian, valid but holding back). v17 introduced the HeroLead archetype. v18 rebuilt the arp patterns to active 8th/16th-note movement. v19 fixed static: HERO_LEAD sub-octave release 1.20s → 0.14s (primary culprit — a 220 Hz sine bleeding into the quiet cooldown), RICH_SUB triangle layer release 0.22s → 0.05s, SOLO channel wah LFO removed (double-filtering with HERO_LEAD's filter_env was producing warble in groove sections).
The voice is one persona — og_glenda_bunny — rendered as a haunted three-layer output. ElevenLabs base goes through ffmpeg as:
- MAIN VOCAL — pitch-shifted -5 semis for husky weight, multi-tap reverb (80ms / 230ms / 520ms), slight stereo widening
- GHOST LOW — 4 semis under the main, hard-left, lowpassed at 2.4kHz, heavy long-tail reverb
- GHOST HIGH — 5th above the main, hard-right, highpassed at 520Hz, ethereal reverb tail, softer gain
The three layers create a "many voices" nightmare spread without extra TTS calls. The lyric "the reaper logs on" sounds appropriately summoned.
The look
Stick-figure Plan 9 bunny rendered in PIL, 854×480 at 12 fps. Seven shot types are in rotation:
| Shot | What it is |
|---|---|
| side | classic 2D side-view, headband, beat-locked stride, scrolling stars and grid floor |
| behind | bunny seen from the back, bandana knot visible, body curves with each step |
| close_run | full-body running stride centered, head + face visible, blurred drone view in BG |
| close_up | head-and-shoulders, body chops at frame bottom, full face engagement |
| eye_close | extreme close-up at scale=420, eye sclera fills the frame, pupils dart |
| low_angle | heroic looming hero shot, sky-dominant, ground curls up at edges, looking down at camera |
| drone | top-down terrain follow with trail and compass HUD — now a rare accent |
The first cut (v1) was almost entirely drone-cam and a single smirk expression. The user feedback was "the video was a little boring and we were trying to minimize the drone top view and just use that occasionally and do more visual and face and camera angles. have some fun with real close up's of eye and trying to capture silly plan9 bunny emotion on this one." So v4 added the eye_close and low_angle modes, expression cycling per section (so the face changes mid-section through smirk → sarcastic → rap → wide_panic → shocked → contemplative), micro-animations (ambient eye drift + beat-locked blinks + secondary head-tilt), an animated huff mouth that opens and closes with the stride, and a punchier cubic ease for the running cycle with a contact-snap on every footfall. Drone became one slot in a six-shot rotation instead of the dominant mode.
The bookend
V8 wraps the main 4:19 with a Stranger-Things-style cold open and a Plan-9 outro.
The intro is six seconds of red-serif BUNNY RUN title fading in on black, bedded with the cricket sample (007_stranger_things_intro_chirp from the ChipForge sister repo) and a low bass tension drone underneath. "a napkin films production" sets up small below the title.
The outro is nine seconds of Plan 9 alone in a starfield. At 1.0s he says "Qapla' Plan nine. Vakhar telurium. Mokai vey." — a Klingon-blended cosmic phrase with a deadpan gloss caption ("rough: 'success, Plan 9 — across the cosmos, until later'"). At 5.0s, sarcastic raised brow, he drops the cheeky English send-off — "Stay weird out there, biopods." Fade to black over the last half-second on a CC BY 4.0 credit.
Twelve passes from sketch to ship
v1 12:04 2026-05-12 first cut, drone-heavy, single smirk
v2 12:18 2026-05-12 voice mix tweak
v3 12:41 2026-05-12 voice mix tweak
v4 18:27 2026-05-12 re-finalized visuals — eye_close + low_angle + cycling expressions
+ animated huff mouth + punchier stride ease + drone reduced
v5 18:35 2026-05-12 first bookended pass — outro caption overlapped bunny face
v6 18:37 2026-05-12 bookend fixed — caption repositioned + 274s total
v7 19:40 2026-05-12 + Bach cello Suite No. 2 in 7 sections (bare 259s)
v8 19:40 2026-05-12 GROOVE_LAB SHIP — bookended with cello
v9 07:26 2026-05-14 score rebuilt — first finalmix with HeroLead (v18)
v10 07:27 2026-05-14 first bookended with new score
v11 15:36 2026-05-14 v19 score — static removed, bass drops added
v12 15:36 2026-05-14 SHIP — bookended, HeroLead + cello + bass drops
v4 → v6 was the visual arc. v7 → v8 added the cello. The gap between v8 and v9 was the score rewrite — the groove_lab era had been solid but the mix felt held back. v17-v19 built the HeroLead archetype from scratch, added active arp patterns, and fixed three layers of static in the quiet cooldown. v12 is the current ship.
